Shirley R. Ketcham

Shirley Ruth Ketcham, 85, passed away July 18th, 2026. She was born September 17th, 1940, in Terre Haute to Earl and MaryEllen (Taylor) Hatfield. 

Shirley grew up in Terre Haute and graduated from Gerstmeyer Technical High School.

As a young woman, in 1963, she married the love of her life, Max Ketcham. They shared over 50 years together. Max passed away in 2016.

Shirley worked as a freight rate specialist for DCMAO for over 30 years before retiring in 1996.

Shirley was a vibrant, loving woman. Her faith was paramount in her life, and she was a valued member of several churches throughout the years. Shirley loved to sing, participating in church choirs occasionally. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening or boating with her family, and she and Max took many camping trips. As her family grew, so did her cooking skills, and everyone looked forward to her delicious dishes. In her down time, she enjoyed crocheting and crafting, and she was a skilled painter. Above all, Shirley adored her family and spent as much time as she could with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Brenda Farnsworth (David), Harold Bricker, Ronald Bricker (Lynn Davis-Bricker) ; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and her sister Christina Morris (Jim).

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Max; her brother Warren; Stepson Max Jr; and her granddaughter Cynthia.
