Mrs. Shirley Ann (Jalovec) Brooks, 87, of Indianapolis passed away at Copper Trace Family-First Senior Living in Westfield, Indiana on Monday, December 11, 2023. Shirley was born August 15, 1936, in Muskegon, MI to the late Carl and Genevieve (Somers) Jalovec. Shirley worked at Indiana Records Managers, Inc for many years before retiring.

In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her brother Carl R. Jalovec and granddaughter Jamie Bormann.

Shirley married Anthony K Brooks on May 3, 1992, and they enjoyed many travel adventures, card games, and Colts games upon retirement. Shirley was an avid volunteer for Indianapolis Oasis and enjoyed cooking, traveling, and spending time with her children and many grandchildren. Shirley was known for her spunky personality, soft hugs, and love for all animals. Shirley was quite proud of her Michigan heritage and earned many bragging rights with regards to her large family. She will certainly be missed by many.

Shirley is survived by her husband Anthony K. Brooks of Westfield, IN; children Bill (Jeri) Bormann, Irvin (Margaret) Bormann III, Shirley (Scott) Hutchings, Martin (Tammy) Bormann, Mary (Tom) Johnson, Susan McCarty, Janet M. Bormann, Amy Guerrettaz, Joe (Colleen) Bormann, and Anne (Stephen) Farnsworth; stepsons David (Ivone) Brooks and Sean (Luci) Brooks. Shirley is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren plus 3 on the way, brother Charles (Chris) Jalovec, and sister Valerie (Craig) Westedt.

A public visitation will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 9-11 am at Flanner Buchanan-Broad Ripple 1305 Broad Ripple Ave Indianapolis, IN 46205. A funeral service will follow at 11 am.
