Shirley Ann Thomson Bowsher Echols died December 21st, one day shy of her 95th birthday. She was born in Indianapolis December 22, 1923 to Jesse and Mura Mae Thomson. She attended Shortridge High School, graduating in 1941. In 1942 she married Harry E (Red) Bowsher (deceased) and they had three children. Shirley loved gardening, golf, card games and traveled extensively with her second husband, Raymond P Echols (deceased). But singing was what she loved most to do. She became a vocal student at the Jordan Conservatory at age 10 where she studied through her teenage years. She was often on stage singing in local theatre groups performing opera, Broadway shows and other choral presentations, including a choir tour in Germany. While living in Cherokee Village, she was crowned Ms Senior Cherokee Village. Shirley is preceded in death by her brother Vincent Thomson, her sister Colleen Reed and her daughter Roberta M Quandt. She is survived by her daughter, Andrea S Feezle her son, Gregory A Bowsher, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday January 3rd at Flanner Buchanan-Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Ave., from 4-6 pm followed by a memorial service at 6pm. Online condolences may be shared at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
