Sherri A. (Starks) Phillips of Fishers, IN passed away on November 2, 2014 at the age of 48. Having bravely battled breast cancer with successful completion of treatment, she succumbed to a sudden & unexpected complication.
A native of Jackson, Michigan, Sherri was a Michigan State University alumna who enjoyed utilizing her degree in Merchandising Management while working for Hallmark & American Greetings. True to her alma mater, Sherri was a volunteer for the MSU women's basketball program, earning a championship ring presented by the team. As an avid sports enthusiast, she was excited to participate as the Transportation Manager during the '96 summer Olympics in Atlanta. Aside from work & sports, she loved spending time with her family in Florida every year; frequently going to Disney, visiting Key West & lying on the beach were among her cherished pastimes.
Sherri is survived by her husband of nearly 13 years, Curt; son of Jim & Ella Phillips & brother of Renee (Phillips) West; brother-in-law, Mike; nephew, Zachary & niece, Melissa of Indianapolis, IN; mother, Donna Starks & sister, Erin of Jupiter, FL; beloved chocolate lab, Brownie - plus many friends & colleagues. She's preceded in death by her father, Delmar (Del) Starks; aunt, Marie; cousin, Daniel; as well as both maternal/paternal grandparents.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens located at 9700 Allisonville Rd. Indianapolis, IN 46250 10am-12pm.
