Mr. Sherman Merriman, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully June 10th, 2024. He was born January 22nd, 1943, to parents Sherman and Elnora (Hampton) Merriman.
Sherman grew up on the east side of Indianapolis and graduated from Warren Central high school, where he was an accomplished wrestler. He continued his education at Purdue, earning his degree in Engineering.
Sherman worked as an engineer for Bell Helicopter for many years before retiring. He had a hand in designing many aircrafts, including the V22 Tiltrotor, of which he was very proud.
Sherman was a strong, loving man. He had a love for the outdoors, and often worked in the woods on his property. He enjoyed playing the stock market. Above all, he adored his family and took being a Grandpa very seriously.
He is survived by his children Eric Merriman and Robin Kizer; and grandchildren Lily Merriman, Alex Merriman and Jordan Kizer; and former wife Jeanette Merriman.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter Kaycee Merriman; and brother Kenneth Merriman.
Sherman’s Celebration of Life will be held July 14th at his daughter, Robin Kizer's house.
