Sharon L. Thompson

Sharon L. Thompson, 64, of Pendleton, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024. Sharon was born December 18, 1959, in Terre Haute, IN, to the late Robert and Joyce Morgan. She earned her associate's degree in nursing from Indiana State University and graduated from Ball State University where she completed her Bachelor’s degree and became a registered nurse.

Sharon began her nursing career in Labor & Delivery at Community East Hospital before moving to the Cardiovascular Recovery unit and then case management and nurse education. After 25 years with Community, she spent the last 15 years of her career with Ascension St. Vincent in the Cardiac Cath Lab. Sharon was an exceptional nurse and leader who loved her co-workers and cared deeply for her patients.

Sharon loved traveling, tending to her flowers and plants, and loving on her dog and many cats. However, more than anything, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Whether shopping, taking vacations, crafting, cheering them on at their activities, or going out to eat, Sharon was the happiest when her grandkids surrounded her. She was an incredible wife, mom, mother-in-law, and “Gigi,” and will be forever missed.

Family and friends are invited to gather from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Thursday, June 13, at Flanner Buchanan-Hamilton Memorial Park, Prairie Waters, where the funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm. Burial will be Friday at Roselawn Cemetery, Terre Haute, IN.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Mark; daughters, Stephanie J. (husband, Cesar) Barrientos and Megan E. (husband, Derek) Feil; grandchildren, Kennedy, Deagan, Rylee, Drew, and Audrey; brothers, Steve (wife, Melinda) and Greg (wife, Dare) Effner. She was preceded in death by her brother, Daryl Effner.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society for Hamilton County.
