Sharon Stoughton-Jackson

November 22, 1946 — June 9, 2025

Carmel, Indiana

Sharon Lee Stoughton-Jackson, of Carmel, passed away on June 9, 2025. She was born on November 22, 1946, in Shelbyville, Indiana, attended Broad Ripple High School and then graduated from Indiana University. Sharon married her high school sweetheart (Charles) Carter Jackson. She had three girls (Kerri Lee, Katherine-Ann, and Courtney-Lynn) and two grandkids whom she absolutely adored (Wyatt Carter and Avery Lee). She became a docent at the Indianapolis Museum of Art in the 1970’s and especially loved giving tours to school children. Sharon’s faith and her love of God were the firm foundations of her life. Sharon was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, Carmel and a Christian Science Practitioner since the 1990’s. She loved learning about other’s faith practices and traditions and their love of God.

Friends and family are welcome to A Celebration of Life to be held August 3 at 1:00pm at the Deer Pavilion at Newfields (Indianapolis Museum of Art), 4000 North Michigan Road, Indianapolis, IN 46208. Afterwards everyone is encouraged to explore the museum and gardens which were Sharon’s happy places!

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to celebrate Sharon’s lifelong passion and legacy of inspiring children through art and nature. Tributes may be made in her honor to:
