Sharon Shelton
September 20, 1945 – October 21, 2026
Mrs. Sharon Shelton, age 81, of Indianapolis, Indiana, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 21, 2026.
Sharon was born on September 20, 1945, in Jacksonville, Florida, to the late Dilmus and Mattie Sue Barnett. She spent her life faithfully serving the Lord, loving her family, and caring for those around her with a kind and gentle spirit.
A devoted member of Hope Baptist Church for more than forty years, Sharon faithfully served her church family in many capacities. She retired from Hope Baptist Church, where she worked as a janitor and kitchen worker for the school. Her dedication, hard work, and servant's heart touched the lives of countless students, staff members, and church families throughout the years.
Sharon's greatest joy was her faith in Jesus Christ and the love she shared with her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose legacy of faith, compassion, and perseverance will continue to inspire those who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa (Jerry) Brown; her son, Wesley (Stephanie) Shelton; her beloved grandchildren, Brittany Chavez, Joshua Brown, Derrick Brown, Austin Shelton, Alexander Shelton, and Abigail Burton; and eight cherished great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lloyd Shelton; her great-granddaughter, Tetelestai Shelton; her parents, Dilmus and Margaret Barnett; and six siblings.
Though her family grieves the loss of her presence, they find comfort in God's promises and rejoice in knowing that Sharon is now at home with her Savior. Her life was a testimony of steadfast faith, humble service, and Christian devotion.
"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)
