Sharon R. Ellington, 75, of Carmel passed away on January 29, 2021. She was born on February 21, 1945, in Loogootee, the daughter of the late James and Rosemary (Summers) Strange. She married Douglas Ellington on April 8, 1978.
Sharon grew up on the Eastside of Indianapolis attending Our Lady of Lourdes and Scecina High School. Times with her tight knit family were important to her and were always cherished.
Sharon was a long-time active member of Carmel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing golf with Doug, reading, and playing cards, but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Douglas Ellington; children, Douglas (Lisa) Ellington II, Julie (Leroy) Coryea , Chris (Kathy) Ellington, Mark (Dawn) Ellington, and Todd (Mandy) Ellington; siblings, Ron Summers, Terry Strange, Marge Remmo, Susan Braun, and Rachael Kelly; and 20 grandchildren. Sharon was preceded in passing by her siblings, Barbara O’Mara, Stephen Strange, and Nancy Brady.
Due to Covid restrictions private services will be held for the family. The funeral service will be live streamed at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2021, click here. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Carmel United Methodist Church, 621 South Rangeline Road, Carmel, IN 46032. Arrangements were entrusted to Flanner Buchanan – Carmel.
