Sharon Lavon Oliver

Sharon Lavon Oliver, 86, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on May 17, 2026. She was born on August 3, 1939 in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents, the late William E. and Gertrude Lavon Oliver.

Sharon was a voracious reader and spent her life enjoying the beauty in many things including art & sculpture. She had eclectic interests and was a talented interior designer. While living in Arizona, she became interested in Native American culture. This led her to become a docent at the Heard Museum of Art in Phoenix. After returning to Indianapolis, she continued this avocation as a docent at the Etelljorg Museum. In addition, she enjoyed working for Indiana’s Senators at the Indiana State House where she also served as a tour guide. As a 1959 graduate of Broad Ripple High School, she became very involved with the Alumni Association for many years.

Sharon is survived by her brother, Bradley (Cheryl) Oliver; sister, Debbie Wimer; 6 nieces and nephews, and numerous grandnieces & grandnephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Douglas Wimer.

Visitation for Sharon will be from 1:30 pm on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Good Shepherd Chapel) - 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250, with a funeral service immediately following at 2:00 pm. Placement will take place at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Hamilton County Humane Society.
