Sharon Helterbrand

Sharon Kay Helterbrand, 66, of Zionsville, IN passed away at home on December 6, 2011 after a four-year battle with brain cancer. Sharon was born on July 12, 1945 to the late Doff B. and Marie (Wilson) Cook in Upper Tygart, Kentucky. She married Arlen Helterbrand on November 10, 1962. Sharon drove a special needs school bus for Zionsville Community School Corporation. Sharon was a member of Eagle Creek Evangelical Friends Church. Her love for the Lord and her faith in Him were evident to everyone Sharon met. Sharon loved spending time with her family; her faith and the love of her family sustained and strengthened her throughout her illness. Sharon possessed an enamored patriotism for her country, volunteering for the USO, writing letters to U. S. soldiers, and supporting several veterans' associations. She also supported Right to Life. Sharon is survived by her husband Arlen; her children Mariea Best (Haroon Ahmed), Lynn Barnhill (Bill), Denise Koers, AP Helterbrand (Laura), and Andrew Helterbrand(Sabrina); eight grandchildren; and siblings Sandra Colleen Smith, Jenny Hope Hawes, and Fred Lane Cook. Visitation will be Friday, December 9, 2011 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan-Zionsville, 105 W. Pine Street, Zionsville, IN 46077. Services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Eagle Creek Evangelical Friends Church, 18103 Eagletown Road, Westfield, IN 46074, with calling there from 1 p.m. to time of service.
