Sharon Mae Calahan

April 9, 1943 — September 3, 2025

Noblesville, IN

Sharon Mae Calahan, of Noblesville, IN, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, at the age of 82. She was born in LaSalle, IL, on April 9, 1943, to Margaret (Hardin) and William White.

From a young age, Sharon was drawn to the medical field and began working in healthcare at just 16 years old, dedicating her life to helping those in need. After graduating from the Elkhart Institute of Medical Technology, she began her career at Miles Laboratories, later acquired by Bayer, where she served as a laboratory technologist in the diabetes department. For 27 years, Sharon’s work directly supported the care of countless patients, and she retired in 2005 with deep pride in the contributions she made to improving lives.

Sharon’s life was defined not only by her professional service, but also by her devotion to her family, faith, and community. While living in Mishawaka, she was a dedicated member of the United Methodist First Church, where she sang in the choir, led Bible studies, volunteered in hospice care, and contributed in any way she could to support those in need. After moving to Noblesville in 2016, Sharon joined Noblesville First United Methodist Church and continued her faithful service to the Lord, always finding ways to give her time and talents. In her later years, she also volunteered at Riverview Hospital, determined to care for others even into her 80s.

Sharon was a woman of many gifts. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, and baking—often sharing her creations with family, friends, and her church community. She invested her time wholeheartedly in supporting her children’s activities, whether that meant long evenings at the Cleveland Little League ballfields, cheering at ice hockey rinks, or preparing for beauty pageants. No matter the activity, she was always her children’s biggest supporter. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, who brought light and laughter to her life.

Those who knew Sharon will remember her as a kind, honest, and selfless soul who lived her life in service to others. She embodied the values of care, compassion, and faith, and her legacy will continue through the many lives she touched.

Sharon is survived by her children, Bill (Sharon) Calahan, Amy VanGoey, and Tad (Danielle) Calahan; grandchildren, Kelsey VanGoey, Avery VanGoey, Lena Calahan, and Sadie Calahan; and great-grandchildren, Chase Salazar and Kolter Kellenberger. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Sunny.
