Sharon L. Burris

August 16, 1940 — February 16, 2024

Sharon Lea Burris, 83, of Indianapolis, passed away February 16th, 2024. She was born August 16th, 1940, in Indianapolis to parents Robert and Blanche Welshans.

Sharon grew up in Indianapolis. She was a very hard worker, holding several jobs throughout her life. She was a cafeteria worker at IPS, an associate at Switzer’s, and later a book binder at Agency Bindery.

Her faith was very important to her and she was a member of Evanston Wesleyan Church.

Sharon was a warm, loving lady who never knew a stranger. She had a huge heart, with a soft spot for children and animals. She enjoyed her day trips to Joy's House, connecting with friends, and spending as much time as she could with her family. Sharon loved music, listening to all different genres, and loved to dance. Taking walks and running errands with her family always brought her joy. In her down time, she enjoyed completing crossword puzzles.

Sharon was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Sharon is survived by her children Kim Wright, Lori Auburn, Lisa Bailey, and Kristi Burris; grandchildren Joie White, Michael Wright, Britini Murray, Sydney Murray, Mark Taylor, and Justin Walker; great-grandchildren, with whom she shared her home Coleman, Kris, Elijiah, Nickolas, Benjamin; grandchildren Lincoln, Jayden, Brieden, Blakley, AJ, Xzena, Alexis, Mercedes, Ashton, Jayce, Taylor Dayton, Bellbell and Ryley; eight great-great grandchildren; sister JoAnne McPherson; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Robert R. Welshans.

Her memorial service date and time are pending.
