Shannon Kathleen Buelt

April 11, 1952 — August 6, 2023

Noblesville, IN

Shannon Kathleen Buelt, born in Atlantic, IA on April 11, 1952 passed away peacefully on August 6, 2023.

Shannon was a lifelong learner and educator, a loving and supportive wife, caring mother, grandmother and friend with a vibrant spirit, a sly wit and a passion for music. She shared her multitude of gifts with others through the way she lived her life, ranging from her time as the drum major of the University of Iowa Scottish Highlanders, to her support of her sons’ music, drama and sports programs and in her participation in several local theatre productions. Professionally, she impacted many lives during her time leading religious education programs at St Elizabeth Seton and her 15 years of teaching Religion at Brebeuf Jesuit High School.

For all her accomplishments, she will best be remembered for the little moments that, put together, exemplified her spirit: reading a bedtime story to her boys or grandkids; playing music throughout the house with the windows open to let in the Spring air; driving her convertible; being a friend: listening to and helping those in need; loving deeply; and, always enjoying a good party.

Shannon married Dave, her husband of 48 years in Carroll, IA. Together they built long-lasting friendships at all stops in their journey, a tribute to Shannon’s ability to connect with others. In addition to Dave, Shannon is survived by her sons, Matt, Nate and John, her daughters-in-law Laura, Erin and Kelly, and her grandchildren, Bradley, Ethan, Anna, Lillian and Grace.

Family and friends are invited to gather from 9:00 am to 10:30 am Thursday, August 24 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, followed by the celebration of Mass at 10:30.
