Saundra (Jones) Schmidt Cox, 73, of Carmel died May 22nd after a long battle with breast cancer. Saundra, so well known for her non-stop smile, was born April 17th 1943 in Indianapolis to William and Pauline Jones, both of whom preceded her in death.
She graduated from Howe High School in 1961 and went on to work for Indiana Bell, American Fletcher National Bank, and Carmel Utilities, from which she retired in the mid 1990s. After retirement she resided in Cape Coral, Florida, where she was an avid beachgoer.
She is survived by her husband Gary L. Cox, to whom she was married for 29 years; her twin sister Norma Ochs; four children: Gregory Schmidt, Christopher Schmidt (Molly), Brian Schmidt (Angela), and Daniel Schmidt (Christine); six grandchildren: Emma, William, Joseph, Elizabeth, Harrison, and Lucille; Eric Smith; and a slew of loving grand-pets.
A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Flanner and Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
