Sarah Kim Battista

December 16, 1986 — March 22, 2024

Indianapolis, Indiana

Sarah Kim Battista, age 37 of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024.

Sarah was born on December 16, 1986, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the only child and daughter of Patrick F. Battista and Mary Kim Richardson.

Sarah is survived by her father Patrick F. Battista and her mother Mary Kim Richardson, both of Indianapolis, Indiana.   Sarah is also survived by her two precious daughters, Julia Battista (age 12) and Alivia Davis (age 9).  Sarah is further survived by many loving aunts (7), uncles (4), and cousins (15).

Sarah grew up in Indianapolis in the Oaklandon area. She attended Lawrence North High School, graduating in the class of 2005.  After high school, Sarah attended IUPUI graduating with a Bachelor of General Studies degree, with an emphasis in geology and environmental studies.  Over the years, Sarah worked in special events marketing, various office work, and restaurant establishments. Sarah most recently worked as a server in the Irvington area.  In her earlier years, Sarah volunteered with Meals-on-Wheels and did homeless outreach.   When Sarah saw a need in others, she would lend a helping hand, oftentimes putting others before herself.

Sarah’s daughters, Julia and Alivia, were the love and joy of her life.  Sarah was her happiest when making special memories with her children. Sarah made everything an adventure for her girls, whether on a long walk, playing together at the park, swimming, having fun at summer festivals or riding the fastest roller coasters!  Sarah imparted a deep and profound mother’s love, that only a mother can instill, and this love shines brightly through her two daughters.  Sarah shared her girls’ love for Care Bears and one of Sarah’s favorite life lessons and ongoing message to her children was “If you can be anything—be kind.”

Sarah enjoyed the outdoors and loved the beach, kayaking, and just being on the water.   When not on adventures with her girls, Sarah’s favorite pastimes were reading, yoga, cooking, and health and fitness activities.  She also enjoyed planting and growing flowers. Sarah was creative and appreciated art and good music.

Sarah was a sensitive, beautiful, gracious, and loving soul.  She lit up a room with her smile and her laugh was contagious.   Sarah was determined when she stood on her beliefs, but always tried to maintain a cheerful outlook and modeled this to her children.

Sarah touched so many lives. Her smile and sparkling eyes, grace, compassion, and kind words will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
