Sara Jane Johnson

February 11, 1977 — August 1, 2025

Plainfield, Indiana

Sara Jane LeVora Johnson, age 48, of Plainfield, Indiana, lost her courageous battle with liver cancer passing away peacefully on the morning of Friday, August 1, 2025, at her home, surrounded by love and with her devoted husband by her side.

Sara started life February 11, 1977, in Bloomington, Indiana, welcomed by Thomas and Peggy (Woods) LeVora. She was their first child and brought Tom and Peggy so much joy as a loving, caring, compassionate daughter.

On October 3, 2020, she married the love of her life, Michael “Mike” Johnson, in Indianapolis. Together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, support, and shared purpose. Mike survives her and will carry her love with him always. Sara was the proud and loving mother of Casey Way, Braden Kreigh, and Ashton Kreigh, and the devoted bonus mom to Billy Johnson, Andrew Johnson, and LilliAnn Johnson—each of whom she supported with unwavering encouragement and affection.

She is also survived by her beloved brother, Matthew (wife Jenny) LeVora of Carmel, Indiana, and their children—her adored nephew and nieces—Patrick, Elizabeth “Lizzy,” and Madelyn “Maddie.” Her extended family includes many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were blessed by her warmth and generous spirit.

Sara was preceded in death by her loving grandparents, Marvel and Norma LeVora and Meade and Evelyn Woods, as well as her dear uncle, Dennis Woods and aunts, Suzy Woods and Toni Woods.

Raised in Bloomington, Sara graduated from Bloomington High School South in 1995 and Indiana University, School of Informatics in 2007. She built a meaningful career in informatics and information technology, where her intelligence and dedication made a lasting impact.

Sara’s life, however, was defined far more by her passion for people than by any job title. She was endlessly involved in the lives of her children—cheering them on at countless events, serving on booster boards, and always being the one you could count on to step in and help. She was active in Plainfield Show Choirs, Whiteland Community Day, and Cub Scouts, always leading with heart and humor.

Sara was a talented crafter who loved crocheting, coloring, and cross-stitching. She also enjoyed scuba diving and time at the shooting range, always up for trying something new. Together with Mike, she was an engaged and enthusiastic member of Valley Mills Christian Church, where she served faithfully in both the youth and women’s ministries.

Above all, Sara was a bright light—kind, spirited, full of grace and endlessly devoted to her family and friends. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, niece and friend. Her strength, compassion, and joyful energy touched everyone who knew her.

A celebration of Sara’s life will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Valley Mills Christian Church, 5555 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46221. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with a service to follow at 2:00 PM, officiated by Retired Senior Minister Bob Beltz.

Guests are encouraged to wear purple—Sara’s favorite color—or any bright, joyful hue in honor of her vibrant spirit.

Cremation rites will be accorded after the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sara’s name may be made to the Valley Mills Christian Church Food Pantry, the Valley Mills Christian Church Camp Scholarship Fund—causes that reflect her giving heart and dedication to others, or to a fund that will be set up for Sara's boys.  Please check back soon for a link.
