Sandy Lee Sisk

Sandra Lee Sisk (Neikirk), affectionately known as Sandy, 75, passed away April 11th, 2024 in her beloved home in the community of Irvington, Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born December 27th, 1948, to parents Floyd and Juanita Neikirk at her grandparents home in Irvine Kentucky.

Sandy spent her early childhood in Madisonville, Kentucky hiking, fishing and camping. Playing til dark with friends and her sister Brenda. Also pestering her older sister Betty. She moved to Indianapolis, Indiana at age 16 and attended Thomas Carr Howe High School where she graduated in 1967. Sandy married Richard Craig Parker on April 18th the same year. The couple had three children, Paul, Rick & Shelly.(Mishell)

Richard & Sandy purchased their home located at 24 N Arlington Ave. in Irvington, Indpls., In. in July 1973.

After their divorce in July of 1977 Sandy worked hard as a single mom to raise her family and keep their home. She worked as a nurses aide, housekeeper, Kirby Sweeper Saleswoman, a waitress. But most memorably she pursued her dream of being a country western singer.

Sandy was a powerhouse in her day in an industry dominated by men. She fought her way to the top of the best entertainers in Indianapolis. She was a prominent figure in the music scene In Indianapolis with her band “The Sandy Lee Band”. She recorded 2 singles with White River Records and signed a contract as a song writer with BMI.

Sandy also bartended at local establishments such as Franklin Gables, The Ritter, Ima Jeans Pub & The Harvester. Sandy  took classes to be a Private Investigator and was an avid antique collector. Her greatest accomplishment was her children and she gave up music for home life.

Sandy’s love for her family, friends and any stranger on her door step exceeded everything else. Everyone was a friend of Sandy’s. She gave shelter and a warm meal to anyone in need. She took joy in spending time with her grandchildren and there friends. Her porch was a neighborhood hang out for many. She also loved spending time with her great grand children  

She was a vibrant, loving woman, full of life, with a great smile and sense of humor. She also had her own style and left behind lots of sparkly stage clothes. You may see some of the ladies in her family wearing these items at Tuesdays service.

She is survived by her children Michael Paul Parker, Richard Jason Parker, Dawn Mishell Parker, step daughter Diane Whitis, former daughter in law Paula Glenn and former son in law Dale Skinner. Grandchildren Richard Nicoli Parker (Jessica Parker), Paul Kyle Parker (Amanda Parker), Jordan Michelle Hignite (Lance Bryant), David Ryan Skinner, McKenzi Kaitlyn Skinner (Jessica & William Kinnett) great-grandchildren Richard Nicoli Parker Jr, Harley Nicole Parker, Brandon Owen Buster, Christopher Michael Parker, Olivia Renna Cunningham (Noa Cunningham), Colin Scott Davis, Jacob Van Douglas Davis, Eden Sophia Skinner, Evelyn Jewel Skinner, Madison Carmen Kinnett, Raelyn Elizabeth Kinnett. Great-greatgrandchild Elliot Mae Cunningham Siblings Betty Mae Gentry (Kevin & Kim Gentry & family, Kathy & David Downey & family) and Brenda Jo Neikirk (Jesse Albright, Nicole & Robert Maneely & Family) Many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Sandy is preceded in death by her parents; Floyd & Juanita Neikirk, Brother in law Lawrence David Gentry, brother in law John William Albright, Former husband Richard Craig Parker, nephew Steven Douglas Neikirk.

Visitation will be Monday April 22nd, at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East, from 5-9pm. Additional visitation will be Tuesday April 23rd, 1-2pm. Her funeral will begin at 2pm. Sandy will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery following a brief funeral procession for a final ride past her parents home at 6685 E Pleasant Run Pkwy S Dr., past her home at 24 N Arlington Avenue and returning to Washington park East.
