Sandra Jean (Whiteley) Truelove, 85, formerly of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 3, 2025, in Provo, Utah.
Born on January 6, 1940, to Melvin Leonard Whiteley and Florence Lillian (Rempis) Whiteley in Gary, Indiana, Sandra was active in Job’s Daughters and Girl Scouts during her youth. She was baptized at Central Christian Church (DOC), where she met and later married the love of her life, Kessler Estes Truelove, Jr. Shortly after their marriage, she graduated from Rush Presbyterian Nursing School in Chicago, IL.
Sandra worked as the office manager for her husband’s dental practice for many years, where her warmth and attention to detail left a lasting impression on patients and colleagues alike. She loved to travel, especially in her family’s RV, attending countless marching band competitions to support her son. Later in life, Sandra poured her heart into raising her two grandchildren as her own, creating a home filled with love and dedication.
Sandra is survived by her daughter, Laura Truelove of Valparaiso; her grandchildren, Krystal (Bruce) Arnett of Lehi, UT, Justin Kostner of Indianapolis, IN, Maxwell Truelove of Columbus, IN, Charlie Truelove of Indianapolis, IN, Gabriel Truelove of Noblesville, IN, Devon Truelove of Doral, FL, and Lauren Truelove of West Palm Beach, FL; her sisters, Margaret (Joseph) Danyi of Valparaiso, IN, and Nancy Lynn Whiteley of Virginia; several great-grandchildren; and extended family who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Kesler Jr.; her two sons, Kesler Truelove III and Robert Truelove; and her sister, Sue Ann Whiteley.
Sandra will be remembered for her quiet strength, devotion to family, and the unwavering love she gave so freely throughout her life.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Flanner & Buchanan – Memorial Park Funeral Home, located at 9350 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or to ManyPaws Animal Rescue (founded by her granddaughter, Krystal) at www.manypaws.org.
