Sandra "Sandy" Lee Cooper

July 7, 1955 — September 3, 2021

Indianapolis, Indiana

Sandra “Sandy” Lee Cooper was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. She left this world on Friday, September 3, 2021, at the age of 66. She was born to Robert and Lenora Hiatt on July 7, 1955, and was raised in Greentown, IN. After graduating high school, Sandy got her Associate’s Degree in Accounting and was able to use her degree to do her churches accounting for several years as well as working in the industry to help support her family.

Sandy had her first child Jessica, on February 19, 1982. She married the love of her life, Dan Cooper, on September 26, 1987, and she gained two more daughters, Andrea and April on that day. Later in 1992, they welcomed their son, Joel on July 28th. Dan and Sandy would have been married for 34 years at the end of this month.

Sandy loved crafting, watching HGTV and Hallmark movies, and cuddling with her dogs Zoe and Oliver. She loved playing cards, and of course, winning those games. And she sarcastically loved to rub it in your face when she did win. And, she had “the look” perfected when she thought it was appropriate.

She was a long-time active member of North Suburban Baptist Church, which is now known as Crossbridge Baptist Church in Indianapolis. She has always been involved with the women’s ministries and loved working with the children for many years listening to verses in Awana.

Sandy was preceded in death by her father Robert Lee Hiatt and her grandson Isaac Joel Brown.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Dan Cooper, her children Andrea Cooper (Bill Abel), April (Tom) Brown, Jessica Robbins, and Joel Cooper. Her mother Lenora Hiatt and her brother Michael Hiatt. Her grandchildren, Kayla (James) Lowe, Kimberly Brown, Thomas Brown III, Dakota Cooper, and Marlowe Brown. And her great-grandchildren Elliot Brown and Matthew Lowe, as well as many nieces and nephews.
