Sandra Barnaby Dodd
On Monday, July 25, 2022, Sandy Dodd, 52, slipped gently away from her loving family. Sandy was a kind, creative, loving person with an outrageous sense of humor, and she will be deeply missed. She loved working in the hospitality industry, meeting new people and lending a hand whenever she could. Her home looked like something out of Architectural Digest – beautifully but comfortably decorate, only with items that she loved. She had a great eye for what was special, and loved going to auctions and sales to find unique treasures. She had a passion for thoroughbred racing, and spent her free time studying horses, trainers, jockeys, and horse farms, and was adept at picking winners with long odds. Her dream retirement was to live near the Del Mar race track in California. Sandy enjoyed a friendly game of poker with family and friends and was also famous for having the best snacks; her house was the favorite for neighborhood kids after school. Her greatest sense of joy and pride came from being a mom.
Sandy leaves behind her children, Nikki and Neil; her mother, Carole Barnaby; her sisters, Susan Brown and Karen Korbiak (Roman); her nieces, Laura and Lillian Brown; her nephews, Ben and Max Hughey, and Alex Korbiak; her grandnephews, Lincoln and Timothy (who she adoringly called Tater Tot and Hash Brown); her aunt, Debbie Lambert; and the entire Barnaby Family.
Karen and Roman will be opening their home to friends and family wishing to share condolences, celebrate her life, and sit in her memorial garden, on Saturday August 6, 2022 from Noon to 5pm.
A special Thank You to Flanner Buchanan – Zionsville for the gentle and kind handling of the burial arrangements for Sandy.
