Indianapolis

Sandra Kay Liles (Wittke), 70, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 13th, surrounded by her children and loved ones, following a courageous battle with cancer. Sandy was born on November 7, 1954, in Elmhurst, Illinois, to Charles and Florence Wittke. They preceded her in death.

She is survived by her three children, Cristol Valdez (Josh Butler) of Elkhart, Tiffany Adams (Aaron) of Noblesville, and Brandon Liles (Allie) of Fishers. Also surviving Sandy are Samuel Bonafede, her significant other, Phillip Liles, her former husband and friend, both of Elkhart, her brother Scott Wittke (Donna) of Lombard, IL, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, a Newfoundland named Duncan. Sandy also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Nicholas and Maxwell Valdez of Elkhart, Griffin Adams of Noblesville, and Theodore, Madison, and Eleanor Liles of Fishers.

Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She was such a loving “Grammy” / “Mimi”.Sandy was an avid dog and animal lover who donated to many animal charities throughout her life. She always encouraged “expanding your horizons” because of her love for travel. Sandy also enjoyed gardening and grew some of the most beautiful flowers and plants. She loved reading, being outside enjoying nature, feeding the birds, amusement parks, cruising, and spending time in and around the ocean. She also loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports, specifically baseball.

She will best be remembered for her infectious smile and laugh, and for the love she had for her family. A private funeral service will be held for the immediate family on Wednesday, September 17th, in Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Elkhart County Humane Society on her behalf. FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS ♥️
