Sandra Laramore, 68, passed away peacefully in her home on October 24, 2015. Sandy was born in Indianapolis and attended Merle Sidener School and Broad Ripple High School (65). She earned bachelors degrees in English and fine arts from Indiana University, followed by a masters degree in education from IUPUI.
She had a long career in education, and was most proud of the time she spent helping children with learning disabilities. Sandy was a gifted visual artist and an active member of the Indianapolis arts community. She will be remembered for her fierce independent streak, as well as her boundless curiosity and sense of adventure. In that spirit, she traveled extensively, finding beauty in people and scenes that would go unnoticed by most, and sharing her unique viewpoint through her art.
Most importantly, Sandy was a devoted mother, daughter, sister and friend. She spent countless hours coaching sports, playing catch, caring for her parents and laughing with family and friends. Sandy took great pride in her children and great joy in her relationships; she lived life on her own terms, was surrounded by people who loved her, and will be greatly missed.
Sandy is preceded in death by her parents Ward and Martha (Dykes) Laramore. She is survived by three deeply loved children; Cassidy Menard, Tyson (Sara) Ferraro, and Sophia (David) Cross, and grandchildren Lily, Caiden, and Jackson. She had the love and support of her three surviving brothers, Steve, Doug, and Jeff Laramore, her nieces and nephews, and a dedicated and wonderful group of friends.
Her memorial service will be held at Flanner and Buchanan- Broad Ripple at 6:00 pm on Friday, October 30th, with visitation starting at 4:00 pm.
