Samuel Ross Yeager
On Tuesday, Oct. 27 Samuel Sam Ross Yeager, husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away suddenly at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following a tragic accident. He was 58. He will forever be remembered and loved by his wife, Cheryl Weir Yeager, their children Nicole (Matt) Simpson and Adam Yeager, and his many family members and friends.
Sam was born August 22, 1957 to Patricia Pat Yeager and the late Harold Gene Yeager. He attended Southmont Senior High School and Danville Junior College. He married Cheryl on April 24th 1977 and their adventure began. An avid traveler, Sam and Cheryl enjoyed many trips throughout their 38 years together, making memories along the way. Touring the Kentucky bourbon trail was among his favorites as it placed him with his most loved people and his most loved drink.
He had a natural ability to make others laugh and bring happiness to those around him. When Sam entered a room, he brightened it with his presence. A lover of the earth, Sam spent many years among plants, flowers and trees enjoying nature and transforming the simplest landscapes into visions of beauty. He worked in nurseries even owning his own at one point -and most recently worked for Greenleaf Nursery. Among his many work experiences, he also enjoyed the years he spent as an EMT and firefighter in Crawfordsville. He loved adventure, especially the thrill of racing competitively. Sam lived his life to the fullest surrounded by the people he loved most.
Sam was an active member of Traders Point Christian Church and held dearly his church family.
Sam is survived by his mother, wife, daughter, son, beloved dog Cooper, brother Steve (Diana) Yeager, sister Sandra (Daryl) Warren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and many aunts and uncles.
He will be greatly missed and always remembered by everyone who knew him.
