Sally Lou Morton

Memorial services for Sally Lou Lindsey Morton, age 91, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Indianapolis, IN, of which she was a member. Calling will be 10-11 a.m. before the services.

Sally was born in Toledo, OH, to Marian and Harold Lindsey. She was a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Toledo, earning a B.B.A. degree with a minor in business law. She was a retired legal secretary and past executive secretary of the Indiana Psychiatric Society.

A longtime volunteer, Sally was a life member of the Hoosier Capital Girl Scout Council and served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for many years. She was a past president of Stansfield Circle and Marion County Medical Auxiliary. She served as a member of the Welfare Service League, Children's Bureau, St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild, Riley Hospital Cheer Guild, and the Crooked Creek, Westlane, and North Central PTOs. She was treasurer of the IMA Alliance and co-chair of the ISO Music Stand. She was a longtime supporter of the ISO, IMA, IRT, IO, and ICO. In her spare time, Sally was an avid bridge and tennis player, and a longtime bowler.

Sally had a great love for her church where she had been actively involved for many years in a variety of roles. She was a lay reader, a chalice bearer, and a lay eucharistic minister. She served on a variety of church guilds and projects, and served as senior warden of the vestry.

Sally was predeceased by her husband of 57 years Philip. She is survived by sister Mary Ann (Charlie) Collins; her children Lynne (Ed) Locke, Keith (Alice) Morton, and Gayle (David) Holtman; as well as grandchildren Kristina (CJ) Knapp, Philip (Aimee) Morton, Brian (Kelsey) Morton, and Kevin (Whitney) Locke; and great-grandchildren Piper, Miller, Grady, Monroe, Theo, and Wes.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church for the music program, of which she was an ardent supporter.
