Ryan Edward McFarland, 46, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on December 13, 2025. He was born on June 19, 1979, in Richmond, Indiana, to parents, Mark McFarland and Jeanne (Emerson) McFarland.

He graduated from Carmel HS in 1998 and pursued higher education for several semesters focusing on business and technology. Married for 19 ½ years, Ryan enjoyed family vacations, especially those at the beach, and a trip with his wife to see a Notre Dame football game in 2023.

In his spare time, Ryan enjoyed playing video games, building Lego sets with his boys, wearing matching T-shirts with his daughter, watching wrestling events, and outings to Dave and Busters. He also loved spending time with his 5 cats and found joy in grilling and smoking different meats. Of everything he loved, Ryan cherished his family above all else, and his love for them was evident in everything he did.

Ryan dedicated a significant portion of his professional life to the insurance industry, where he held various positions. Most recently, he was a medical support expert at MHS for Medicaid, contributing his expertise to assist others in navigating the complexities of insurance.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Ryan was an enthusiastic sports fan. He reveled in watching Notre Dame football, IU basketball, and, within the last year, IU football. His passion for sports brought joy to his life, providing an outlet for camaraderie and spirited discussions with friends and family alike.

Ryan is survived by his loving wife, Jane McFarland; his children, Jacob, Allison, and Lucas McFarland; his parents, Mark and Jeanne McFarland; and his sister, Lindsey Gullett.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marion & Phyllis McFarland, Wayne & Ruth Emerson; and his uncle, Tim McFarland.

Visitation for Ryan will be from 1-3pm on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters) – 4180 Westfield Rd., Westfield, IN 46062, with a funeral service immediately following at 3pm.
