Mrs. Ruthanne “Rudy” (Deuser) Schroeder, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on May 8, 2026. She was born on January 11, 1931, to the late Emil and Anna Deuser, as one of their four children. Rudy was married to her late husband, Roland “Rollie” C. Schroeder, for 72 years.
Growing up on the east side of Indianapolis, Rudy attended Arsenal Tech High School and graduated in 1948 where she belonged to The Jet Club during her high school years. She held jobs at Wasson’s Department Store as a gift wrapper before moving into a secretarial position at Allison Transmissions until 1955. In 1951, Rudy married the love of her life, Rollie, on June 30th. Rudy spent most of her years at the Speedway Golf Course, which later became Brickyard Crossing Golf Course, working alongside Rollie in the Golf Shop until his retirement in 2006. In the 1980s, Rudy and Rollie began spending their winters in the Palm Beach, Florida, area before returning back to Indiana for the golf and racing season in Speedway. Rudy is survived by her brother Larry (Carole) Deuser; children Steven C. Schroeder, Jeffrey J. (Rhonda) Schroeder, and Cynthia A. (Rob Sevening) Barnhart; grandchildren Brooke (Don) Brown, Zachary (Morgan) Beard, Lauren (Scott) Noth, Nicholas (Katie) Beard, Cullen (Tessa) Schroeder, Megan (TJ) Barnhart, Andrew, Alexander (Maggie) and Adam Sevening, and Justin Barnhart; and four great-grandchildren Collins and Remington Brown (Brooke and Don), Emma Noth (Lauren and Scott) and Luey Beard (Nicholas and Katie). She is preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Anna Deuser; siblings, Martha “Marty” (Deuser) Matthews and John E. Deuser. Services for Rudy will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 14, at Flanner Buchanan – Speedway at 2950 N High School Rd, Indianapolis. Entombment will follow at Floral Park Cemetery, 425 N Holt Rd, Indianapolis. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at Flanner Buchanan – Speedway.
