Ruth Isabell Lorentz Siegman was born on September 16, 1915 in Peoria, Illinois. She was the first child to William Adam and Matilda Richoz Lorentz.
In 1933 she came to Indianapolis and attended the Normal College. While here she met Heinrich (Henry) Siegman. They married on June 12, 1938. After briefly returning to Peoria for a job, they returned to Indianapolis and started a family.
Over the years Ruth worked as a teacher in a number of settings including Indianapolis Public Schools and Mount Pleasant Christian Church. She also served as a volunteer at Englewood Christian Church and the nature center in Holland, Michigan.
The most important and enjoyable job for her in life was her family: the joy of being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother, of being around, involved with, and caring for children.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband -Henry, her sister – Irene, and a son-in-law – Marc Lovell. She is survived by her children – Robert (Pat) Siegman, Carol (Bill) Bass, Jean (Mark) Folkening, Becky (Jim) Aldrich, Mark Siegman, Kathy (Bob) Cavanaugh, Debbie (Gary) Swick, Karen (Bill) Cox; 24 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral will take place Saturday at 11:00AM with visitation from 9:30 until service time at Flanner and Buchanan Washington Park East 10722 E. Washington St. Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery.
