Ruth Mae Pace

August 5, 1929 — June 1, 2023

Indianapolis, Indiana

Ruth Mae Pace, “Ruthie Mae”, was born on August 5, 1929 in Elliott, AR to the late Arthur and Saint Alma Elliott. On Thursday, June 1, 2023, she went home to be with the Lord. She was one of seven children. She was preceded in death by her husband; James Pace, brothers; Dr. Theodore Elliott, Arthur Emmett Elliott and sisters; Mildred Elliott-Frazier, Emma Elliott, Pauline Elliott Atkins and Shirley Elliott.
Ruth moved to Camden, AR as a preteen, where she graduated from Lincoln High School and met her love of 54 years, James Pace. They married in November 1948 and moved to Rockford, IL. God, in His wisdom, connected them with an older “village” who guided them as a young married couple and in later years, they became that for other young families who moved to Rockford.
Ruth was deeply rooted in her faith and found herself connected to Pilgrim Baptist Church and soon after, she and James became members. Ruth served as a Deaconess, Sunday School teacher (her passion) and participated in the Lydians, a group of young women whose aim was becoming virtuous women, wives and mothers.
Ruth retired from the engineering department at Illinois Bell Telephone Company after over 30 years of service.
Ruth and James, moved to Indianapolis, IN when they were in their 70’s! God guided them to a beautiful development for seniors, Robin Run Village, within 5 minutes of family! A brand new garden home on a pond! Ruth often gave her testimony of how God spoke to her about the move. His words to her: “Try Me”, and they did. They enjoyed and participated in every amenity offered!
After their move to Indianapolis, they became members of Family Outreach Center and later Eastern Star Church.
Ruth’s favorite verse was Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Ruth had sayings that will truly be missed, such as: God Yet Lives, And That’s The Way It Is Down Here Lord, Are You With Me Or Am I By Myself, Eat The Crust First, and her voicemail messages “Hello, This Is Your Mom/Grannie, Where Are You?”
Ruth’s amazing presence will yet live on through her daughters; Linda Rosalin Cade (Michael) Indianapolis and Ruth Maria Bryant (Eddie) Lonoke, Arkansas, her grandchildren; Paula Danielle Glover, Indianapolis and Edna Ruth Bryant, Little Rock, AR, great grandchildren; Lydia Ruth Glover and James Michael Quarles, both of Indianapolis, her brother- in laws; Ralph (Effie) Pace and Jerry (Joyce) Pace of Milwaukee, WI and sister-in-law Flossie Fields, Las Vegas, NV. She also leaves her beloved bonus families; LeRoy and Doris Bell, Brentwood, TN, (LeRoy Jr. and Lamont), David and Joyce Smith, Madison, AL, (Ciceli, Cynthia, Cheryl and Michael), God-children; Jeff Bell, Antioch, TN and DeDe Brame Spartanburg, SC. Then there is Ruth’s BFF (Best Friend Forever) Dorothy Blanks, who people figured was Ruth’s long-lost sister. Ruth leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews as well as life long friends who were like family.
