Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and friend. She is preceeded in life by mother Helen and siblings Veva, Marion, Thora, David and many close friends and family members.
She is survived by daughter Lisa Knudsen, son Neil Placek, four Grandchildren, two Great Grandchildren, six Great Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Her family extends beyond the obvious with her relationships with church members at St. Peter Lutheran in Indianapolis and the love and friendships she shared with many of those she met.
A child of the Great Depression, she lived a life guided by values reflective of the times. Love of family and a giving spirit were two of her most endearing qualities. As a single parent, she worked countless hours and numerous jobs to raise two children. Her dedication to family was aided by her mother, her siblings and their families, and surrogate mothers, allowing her to make a living and keep her family together. St. Peter Lutheran Church was her anchor. It was a safe haven through the bad times and a place to rejoice all others. She lived life with grace and respect for others and her legacy is in all those whose lives she touched
Viewing will be 4:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, March 21, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan-Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN. The funeral will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 22 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
