Ruth Lohman Kemp

Ruth Lohman Kemp, age 94, of Beech Grove, passed away, Saturday, November 21, 2015. Born on October 14, 1921 in Springfield, OR she was the daughter of the late James and Rena (Stephens) Swartz.
Ruth moved from Bellefontaine, OH in 1939 to work in downtown Indianapolis. After marrying her husband Joseph S. Lohman, she became a homemaker, mother to six children, gardener, seamstress, quilter and hostess for the Thanksgiving celebration that brought all the extended family together. Ruth kept her special expressions, especially the eyebrow raise, to the very end.
Ruth is survived by her son, Craig (Darlene) Lohman; daughters, Teresa (Mark) Harvey, Denise (Edward) Howe and Andrea (Kevin) Neel; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; sisters, Alberta Gillespie, Dorothy Hathaway; sister-in-law, Barbara Lohman as well as many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph S. Lohman; son, Jeff Lohman; daughter, Cheryl Linville and her second husband, Bill Kemp.
The family would like to thank her caregivers at Rosegate and Optum for their loving care. Visitation will be on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Marys Catholic Church, 317 N. New Jersey Street, Indianapolis. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations in Mrs. Kemps memory can be made to St. Marys Catholic Church or the Alzheimers Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the church. Arrangements were entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan Market Street.
