Ruth M. Johnston, formerly of Indianapolis, quietly passed away April 16, 2011 in Orlando, FL.
Ruth taught 8th grade English in IPS for 37 years. Several Indiana political and business professionals were in her classroom during those years. She loved the opportunity to shape the lives of all her students.
She was the widow of the late Orris C. Johnston who preceded her in death June 17, 1996.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Lynch Harrison; (husband Richard J.) son, David C. Johnston; (significant other Mary Price) brother, Raymond Morphew; brother-in-law, Bill Faudree; sister-in-law, Esther Johnston; grandchildren, Heather Lynch Hansen, (husband Peter Drazdiak) Joshua Lynch, Matthew C. Johnston (wife Joy), Benjamin Johnston (wife Jennifer); step-grandchildren, Kate Betterly (husband Luke) and Richard Harrison, Jr.; (wife Valerie) great-granddaughter, Lucia Lauryn; step-great-grandchildren, Will and Grayson Betterly and Xavier Harrison.
Friends are invited to call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center – Broad Ripple.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. at Friday, April 22 at the Funeral Center.
Ruth will be laid to rest next to her husband in New Maysville Cemetery in rural Putnam County.
