Ruth D. Carpenter

Ruth D. Carpenter, 95, of Indianapolis, passed away May 30^th, 2023. She was born February 5^th, 1928, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to parents William and Charlotte (Christman) Donahue.

Ruth grew up in Alabama. Later, after meeting the love of her life, Reginal “Ray” Carpenter, they married and moved to Indiana.

She was very active in the Daughters of the Nile and a past Matron of the Englewood Order of Eastern Star #483. In recent years, she enjoyed attending the United Methodist church.

Ruth was a loving, social lady. She was an excellent card player, often gathering with friends to play euchre, bridge and Skip-Bo. She enjoyed collecting angels and cherubs, and looked forward to decorating for Christmas every year. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son, William “Billy” Carpenter.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ray Carpenter, and daughter Silvia “Joy” Hayes.

Ruth’s graveside service will be at Washington Park East Cemetery, Thursday, June 15^th, at 2pm. Guests are encouraged to meet at Flanner Buchanan Funeral center (10722 E Washington St.) at 1:45pm to proceed to her mausoleum space together.
