Ruth Coffman

Indianapolis, Indiana – Ruth Coffman, 80, passed away on February 13, 2026. An amazing woman and mother, her love and kindness will be forever missed.

Ruth was born in Hazard, Kentucky, on October 14, 1945, to parents William and Sarah (Campbell) Napier. A hard worker and independent woman, Ruth worked as a machinist for Diamond Chain for forty-one years before retiring in 2008.

More than her work, Ruth was a devoted mother and provider for her family. Whenever her daughter or grandchildren needed anything, Ruth was there for them. Whether that was being a caretaker, giving a grandmother’s wise advice, or staying humble no matter what, she was a role-model for everyone.

While Ruth knew the value of a penny, she also knew how to have fun. You might find her at a casino relaxing or reminiscing about sharing a cigarette with her best friend and sister, Shirley. To relax, you might find her sewing, watching Gunsmoke, or completing another crossword puzzle.

In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her siblings Effie Robinson, William Napier, Gordon Napier, Rosalee Hart, Golda Napier, Lula Fay Scales, Juanita Shepard, and Shirley Ann Warfield.

Ruth is survived by her beloved daughter, Annette Sexson; grandchildren Matthew Sexson, Brittany Sexton, Breanna Sexson, William Warfield, and Michael Sexson Jr.; and great-grandchildren Daniel Lyons, Carter Lyons, Willow Warfield, and Kinslee Sammons.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229) from 1 pm – 3:30 pm with funeral services following at 3:30 pm with Pastor Rob Mifflin presiding.
