Ruth Buchanan

Ruth Evelyn (Hilgert) Buchanan, 91, of Indianapolis died November 11, 2014. Ruth was born in Indianapolis on July 05, 1923 to John Ivan and Coda Dell (Goldman) Hilgert. Ruth graduated from Southport High School in 1941 and Indiana Business College. Ruth was a receptionist when she retired in 1986 from the Indiana University School of Dentistry. She had a passion for cooking and family was her priority in life. Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband Arthur Jackson Flint and her second husband, The Honorable Judge Paul H. Buchanan Jr. and her sister, Jeanine Ritter. Calling will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Flanner and Buchanan-Broad Ripple from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm followed by the Funeral Service at 6:30 pm. Ruth is survived by her children: Melissa (Ted) Mau of Indianapolis and Mark (fiancée Dr. Annie Hoffman) Flint of Bradenton, Florida; stepchildren Brian (Kim) Buchanan and Bruce (Julie) Buchanan and Lucinda (Norman) Pfeifer; her grandson; Christopher Flint, step grandchildren Alex, Rebecca, Andrew, Lori and Kim and three step great grandchildren, nephews: Steve (Kris) Ritter and Paul Allen (Suzie) Ritter, and niece Tammy (Mau) Shortt, and great nieces and nephew Victoria, Olivia, Abigail and Lily Ritter and Tyler Shortt. Ruth's family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Dr. Timothy Story and his staff and the staff at IU Health North for all of their care and compassion for Ruth and to Ruth's devoted Caregivers: Carol, Katy, Henri, Leah, Rosa, Teresa and Debbie. Thank You for all the love and care you have given to Ruth.
