Ruth Ann Hogsett
95, of Indianapolis, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, in Avon, Indiana. Ruth was born on August 2, 1926, in Richwood, West Virginia to the late Ray and Anna Neal. She grew up in East Rainelle, West Virginia, as an only child. She earned a degree in vocational home economics from Marshall University. She worked three years with the Extension Service in West Virginia, educating farm women in 4-H Youth Clubs. After taking reading courses at Butler University, Ruth was hired for her first teaching job at Indianapolis Public School 75. After receiving her Masters Degree in Administration from Butler University she taught at IPS 79. Sher retired from IPS in 1996. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hogsett, Sr., and son, Charles Hogsett, Jr. She was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church, Westside Symphony Group, Indianapolis Museum of Art, Home Economic Guild, Women’s Department Club, Alpha Delta Kapp, Delta Kappa Gamma, and an honorary member of Beta Sigma Phi. Service will be Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at 2 pm with calling from 1 pm at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 3000 N. High School Road, Indianapolis, IN 46224. Burial will follow at Washington Park North Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to John Knox Presbyterian Church or the Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship Fund.
