Ruth Arlene McCoy,
89, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2013. She was born on January 14, 1924 in Zearing, IA to Clyde and Abigail (McDowell) Platt. Ruth retired from Sears and also volunteered her time with the Free Methodist Headquarters in Indianapolis, the Wayne Township Host Reading Program and donated countless knitted hats and blankets to children at Riley Hospital. She was a longtime member of John Wesley Free Methodist church. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Janet S. (Tim) Duncan and Joyce A. (Rex) Fortner; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer (Dan) Bruggen, Jeff (Cary) Fortner and Derek Duncan; 4 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Hanna, Noah and Kyrie. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo Fredrick McCoy; 2 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral services for Mrs. McCoy will be held at Flanner and Buchanan – Speedway on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 1pm. Visitation will begin at 10:30am, also at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Lincoln Memory Gardens, Whitestown.
