Ruth Jewell was born on February 5, 1957, the daughter of Mary Williams and William Edward Rice, Jr. in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Ruth when she was nine years old she used to cook on her Easy Bake Oven for her siblings. This is what probably led her to being a chef for 25 years, retiring in 2008. She was a faithful member of First Church of Deliverance and Recovery. She served on various positions in the church. She was a dedicated member and served on various auxiliaries.
Ruth enjoyed writing scriptures on index cards to pass it to people for encouragement.
Ruth loved EVERYBODY and especially the elderly.
She was preceded in death by her father and LaRuth Bufford (grandmother).
Ruth is survived by her husband, Johnny Jewell; Daughters, Chandra (Walter) Smith (Indianapolis, Indiana), Monica (Ronald) Lawrence (Indianapolis, Indiana), Felicia (Alphonso) Smith (Indianapolis, Indiana), Latasha (Kenny) Walker (Indianapolis, Indiana); Siblings, Brenda (Jimmy) Ward, Calvin (Ruby) Lee, Glenda (Emory) Hollenquest, Harold (Pamela) Williams; 9 Grandsons and 2 Granddaughters and 2 Great Grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be 12:00 P.M. Saturday, October 12, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan-Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Rd. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until noon Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Floral Park Cemetery.
