Russell Brown, 81, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2022.
He was born to parents Charles and Norma Brown, on June 9, 1940, in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Russ was the oldest of twelve children. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1963 – 1965 before returning home to Indianapolis.
Russ is survived by his loving wife, Della, of 37 years, adult children from previous marriage Glenn (Janet), Connie (Donnie), Dennis (Tahnea), Jim (Brittney), Dessa Kay, and Bill, as well as a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Charlotte, Sharon, Jan, Carol, Donnie, and Stanley. Russ was predeceased by son David, parents Charles and Norma, and siblings Larry, Barbara, Bobby, Patty, and Debbie.
Russ was known for his love of family, fishing, hunting, sports, and storytelling. Passing on his passion for sports, he coached his children’s sports teams and encouraged an active lifestyle. As an avid storyteller and fisherman, Russ loved sharing an occasional fish tale, often about the ones that got away. He was also known to retell stories about his children’s (alleged) misdoings. Most importantly, he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was always proud of his children and grandchildren eagerly telling of their pursuits.
In honor of Russell’s wishes, the family will hold a private service.
