Ruby Lane Mehl

Nov 4, 2014 — Aug 17, 2026

Noblesville, Indiana

Ruby Lane Mehl, 11, of Noblesville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026. She was born on November 4, 2014, in Carmel, Indiana, to Eric Mehl and Julia Dinnes.

Ruby had a bright smile that could light up any room. She found happiness in the simple things—her favorite shows, including Peppa Pig, Mother Goose Club, and Sesame Street; her beloved stuffed animals and toys; and, perhaps most of all, the people around her.

Ruby had a strong arm and a love for throwing anything she could get her little hands on, which often brought laughter to her and those having to play fetch. She had a sweet, silly spirit and a way of bringing joy to everyone she let into her world.

Those fortunate enough to find their way into Ruby’s world knew there was something special about being one of her people. She formed meaningful connections with many of the people who cared for her throughout her life, including the therapists and staff at Lighthouse Autism Center in Noblesville, where she enjoyed learning new things, being silly, and causing chaos.

Although Ruby spent much of her life in and out of hospitals, she faced each challenge with a strength and spirit all her own. That strength and ability to smile through it all left an impression on the medical community that cared for her, and the love they had for Ruby was a reflection of the unique person she was.

Ruby's life was far too short, but the love she gave and the joy she brought into the world were immeasurable. Her sweet spirit, endless love, and contagiously bright smile will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.

Ruby is survived by her parents, Eric and Jen Mehl and Julia and Jason Dinnes; siblings, Wesley Mehl and Willow Mehl; grandparents, Mark and Robin Mehl, Barry and Janet Dunn, John and Lynda Breidenbach, Randy and Julie Hunt, and Stephen and Barbara Dinnes; as well as numerous extended family members who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Betty Fogt.
