Rowena Shields Arterburn Justice

Rowena Shields Arterburn Justice Passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011 at the Village of Avon. She was born in Scottsville, Kentucky to Alma Oliver and Thomas Jefferson Shields on December 24, 1929. Rowena's parents were hard working devout Christians who passed along remarkable values to their descendants. In addition to her parents, Rowena was predeceased by siblings, Robert, Ruby, Pellie, and Donald Shields, and by Wilma Gilliam, as well as by her former husband, Wesley Claude Arterburn. Rowena retired from RCAThompson Consumer Electronics. Survivors include brother, Ewing Shields; sister, Iris Pruitt, children Ronnie (Cindy) Arterburn, Rita (Jim) Timmons, Debbie (Johnny) Richee, and Gail Napier. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, as well as by many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and dear friends. In recognition of her love of animals and in memory of her pet (Crickett) memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or other charitable organization of the donor's choosing. Calling for Rowena will be at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center - Speedway on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Lakeview Christian Center, 47 Beachway Drive in Indianapolis, with calling one hour prior to services.
