Rosemary M. Sydow of Westfield passed away on January 11, 2026, at the age of 92. She was born in Indianapolis, IN on June, 17 1933, to the late Dudley and Tabitha (Lay) Grubbs where she was one of ten children.
Rosemary attended Manual High School and was a gifted student. After working several years, she met the love of her life, her husband of 65 years Melvin while roller skating. They married and moved to Speedway, IN where they resided for over 35 years. Rosemary worked as a head bookkeeper for ten years at LS Ayres before having a child and becoming a devoted homemaker. She loved the tea room and the fashion shows that LS Ayres offered and the excitement of downtown while working there.
Rose lived life to the fullest and her favorite hobby was gardening. She loved all flowers and taking care of them and she also was an accomplished tap dancer and loved old movies. The light of her life were her grandkids rarely missing a game or activity they had and even moving to Westfield to be closer to them.
Please join us on Friday January 23 at Flanner Buchanan in Carmel IN to celebrate Rosemary’s life. The Visitation will take place from 10 to 11 and following with a Celebration of Life at 11am.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Elaine D. (husband, Gordon) Shaw and grandchildren, Jason C. (wife, Krista) Shaw and Amanda M. (husband Clay) Corbin, and brother Kenneth Grubbs. She was preceded in death by brothers Cecil, Wilbur, Robert, Arvine and Eugene Grubbs and sisters, Mollie Harloss, Marguerite Hendricks and Elsie Burnette.
