Rosemary L. Bates

Rosemary Bates passed away peacefully on October 14, 2022, after 98 years of love, laughter, smiling, silliness and hugging everyone. Rosemary was born on September 25, 1924, in Indianapolis, Indiana where she was one of ten children. Rosemary was a woman of faith and active member of her church, Bridgeport United Methodist. Rosemary was a kind soul that loved everyone and was loved by all.

Rosemary loved to play games with her friends and family including Uno, Dominoes, and the family game of ‘Muggins.”  She was a loyal fan to her Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers no matter their performance.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, her loving husband of 68 years, James Bates Sr., and son James Bates, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Terry) Osborne; her eight grandchildren: Bart (Laura) Bates, Brad Bates, Michele Bates, Susan Sutton, Josh (Kendra) Bates, David (Gracie) Osborne, Daniel Osborne and Savannah Osborne; her nine great grandchildren: Brandi (Jeremy) Davis, Kori Bates, Alexis Sutton, Lauren Sutton, Kennadee Bates, Alex Passarello, Drew Stalba, Ella Rose, Ada Jane and her one great-great grandchild, Mila Davis.

Special appreciation to the compassionate staff of Inspirations of Florence, Kentucky; Charter Senior Living of Edgewood KY, and Bluegrass Hospice for the exceptional care and gentleness they provided Rosemary.

Visitation will be at 12:00 pm Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the Bridgeport United Methodist Church, Indianapolis, Indiana. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm. Entombment will be at West Ridge Park Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana.
