Rose Mary Robinson

September 30, 1944 — June 15, 2025

Indianapolis

Rose Mary Robinson, 80, died June 15, 2025 at Franciscan Hospice House Indianapolis, IN. Her daughters, Dawn Lee Robinson and Michelle Renee Robinson, held her hands as Rose passed over to her eternal life.

Rose Mary was born in the farming community of Hebron, NE. She began working outside of the family at the age of 14. The day after graduating from Hebron High School she moved to Lincoln, NE obtaining employment at Miller & Paine Dept. Store.

Her mother warned Rose to watch out for “those air force men”. On June 6, 1964, Rose Mary married Airman First Class Gerald Eugene Robinson. When Jerry decided not to re-enlist and to move back to his hometown, Connersville, IN, Rose Mary left all she knew and followed her husband.

When their daughters became school-aged, Rose decided that Jerry would work the day shift at the factory and she would work nights in janitorial service. That allowed Rose to make sure that Dawn and Michelle ate a hot breakfast before sending them off to school and that a hot dinner would be waiting for them when they returned from school. Understanding the importance of education, Rose Mary insisted that her girls would attend and graduate from college. Rose’s proudest days were watching Dawn graduate from Capital University and Michelle graduate from Valparaiso University. Rose Mary was pleased to see her daughters independent with successful careers in the insurance industry.

Rose Mary kept up with the news and happenings of the Hebron community by reading the Hebron Journal-Register. She enjoyed watching the University of Nebraska Cornhusker football team on tv. And, she became a fan of the Indianapolis Colts. Rose regularly kept in touch with friends and family via the telephone.

Rose Mary is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Robinson; her grandparents Henry & Rose (Bartels) Bock and Edward & Louisa (Eggert) Gerdes; her parents Louis & Albie (Gerdes) Bock; her sister and brother-in-law Phyllis (Bock) & Louis Reinke; her sister Pamela (Bock) Carlson; her sisters-in-law Marlene (Robinson) Combs, JoAnn (Robinson) Koon, & Charlotte (Robinson) Staudinger; and her brother-in-law James Robinson.

Rose Mary is survived by her daughters Dawn Robinson & Michelle Robinson; her nephews and nieces Kevin & Georgina Reinke, Kent & Angie Reinke, Kendra (Reinke) Copatch, and Jamie (Carlson) Glasscock; her brother-in-law Kent Carlson; her brother-in-law and wife Kenneth & Jeannie Robinson; and her sister-in-law Shirley (Robinson) Mopps.
