Rose Marie Grimes

Rose Marie (Taylor) Grimes, 91, passed into heaven on Tuesday, April 5, 2022.  Mrs. Grimes was a resident of Danville, IN.  She was born in Bedford, IN to parents, Grace E. and Charles B. Taylor.  She married the love of her life, William C. Grimes, in 1949.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Mae Lagel; brothers: Robert, Charles, Raymond and Donald Taylor.

She graduated from Oolitic High School and attended Indiana University and Purdue University.

She retired from Indiana State Board of Health in 2006, where she was a Lab Tech in the Dairy Lab.

Her hobbies and interests included: reading, playing cards with her brothers and family, camping, bowling, fishing and traveling.  Her favorite love was her family and watching the Pacers play basketball. This interest stemmed from playing basketball in high school and with her brothers.

She is survived by 6 children: Rosanna M. (Tom) Fitzgerald, William S. (Karen) Grimes, Ronald L. (Susan) Grimes, Kathy M. (Dave) Bennett, Susan D. (Andy) McMath, Lewis A. (Michelle) Grimes; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 11am until 1pm, Monday, April 11, 2022 at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Garden (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, where services will immediately follow, beginning at 1pm.  Entombment will follow services in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Dementia Society of America to benefit Alzheimer’s and Dementia research and care.
