Rose Anna Spanke

Rose Anna Spanke, age 96 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully on Friday morning, April 19, 2024.

Rose Anna was born on June 19, 1927 in New Castle, Indiana, daughter of Merle and Florence (Brickner) Lane.   She is preceded in death by her parents.

She married Theodore Augustine Spanke on May 24, 1952 in New Castle, Indiana.  He preceded her in death on August 28, 2001.

She is survived by three children: daughter Jane Walker of St. John, Indiana, son David (wife Peggy) Spanke of Cumberland, Indiana, and daughter Mary Ellen (husband Chris) Boerner of Brownsburg, Indiana.  

She is preceded in death by one son: Dr. John Spanke.  She is survived by Dr. John’s wife Mary Spanke of Fishers, Indiana.  She is preceded in death by her daughter Jane’s husband: Dr. Mike Walker.

She is survived by six grandchildren: Jeff (wife Kate) Spanke of Fishers, Indiana, Joe (wife Meghan) Spanke of Fishers, Indiana, Adrienne (husband Eric) Stadnik of Highland, Indiana, Kristin Walker of Los Angeles, California, Katie Spanke of Indianapolis, and Sam Perin of Bloomington, Indiana.

Six great grandchildren: Cole Spanke, Liam Stadnik, Jackson Spanke, Walker Spanke, Landon Spanke and Archer Spanke.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, located at 7243 E. 10^th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219.

Her Mass of Christian burial officiated by Father Michael O’Mara will begin at 11:00 AM.

A mercy meal will take place immediately after the ceremony in Early Hall adjacent to the church.

Burial will follow the meal at Washington Park East Cemetery where Rose Anna will be laid to rest with her husband Theodore Spanke.
