Rosalie Maier Morey

December 28, 1935 — November 23, 2025

Noblesville

Rosalie Maier Morey, 89, of Noblesville passed away on November 23, 2025, after a lengthy battle with diabetes and dementia. She is survived by her daughter Sue Berry (Ralph) of Denton, TX, son Albert Morey III (Kim) of Fortville, IN, grandsons Andrew Berry (Alison) of Grapevine, TX, and Albert Morey IV of Indianapolis, IN, great grandsons AJ Berry and Archer Berry, and sister Carol Burnham of Virginia Beach, VA. Rosalie, known by everyone as Ro, loved family, travel, books, collecting art and antiques and artifacts, and her lakeside home on Morse reservoir.

Born in 1935 in Wheeling, West Virginia, to Curtis and Rosalia Maier, she moved with family to the suburbs of Chicago, where she and baby sister Carol, brother Curt and sister Jo (both deceased) enjoyed a loving home. Ro attended Bradley University where she met and eloped with her soulmate and husband of 39 years Albert Morey Jr. of Chicago. In 1969 she returned to college to complete her degree in Elementary Education from Bradley. Ro and Al made their home in the suburbs of Chicago before moving in 1974 to St. Louis and later to Muncie, IN. In 1992 they built their forever lakeside home in Noblesville. There she enjoyed the ever-changing seasons of the water, watching boats and wildlife, and the joy of speeding down the lake, grabbing on to her visor to keep it safely dry.

In addition to raising her two children as an ever involved and dedicated mom, Ro worked as a library assistant at Ball State University and as an antiques appraiser, two natural choices for her hobbies of reading and collecting. In addition to family life, her expertise in books and antiques made her a natural leader for book clubs and other social educational clubs dedicated to antiques and collectables. A visit to Ro and Al’s home was a near museum level exploration of their shared collections of art, original native American art and artifacts, fine collectables from throughout Europe, and many many shelves of books. Her love of collecting was passed on to her children and grandchildren, and it was often stated that to tell Ro you were interested in a topic would soon mean many generous gifts to fulfil your interest and establish your own collection.

It was after the untimely loss of Al in 1996 that she began extensive European and North American travel with Sue, Al III, their spouses and her grandsons. France, England, Russia, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy, Bahamas, Canada and many US states, including a gulfside condo she owned in Longboat Key, FL, were highlights. On these travels she helped her family make memories that will be passed on for generations.

In lieu of flowers, Sue and Al III ask that donations be made in Ro’s name to the American Diabetes Association.

Family would sincerely like to thank Ro’s caregivers since 2019 – Kelly, Joby, Ann, Jodi, Leslie, Pam, Anna, Abby and Cindy.
