Ronald Joseph “Pete” Sermersheim, 82, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on February 5, 2022. He was born on August 9, 1939, in Jasper, Indiana, to the late Alphonse and Georgina (Goetz) Sermersheim.
He graduated from Jasper High School in 1957 and earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Louis University. He served in the Army Reserve. He worked for 42 years at Kimball International and retired in 2005 as Vice President of Environmental Health and Safety. He served on the Board of Directors for Springs Valley Bank & Trust. He also was on the Financial Advisory Board for the Sisters of St. Benedict. He was active in the Jasper community as a member of the original Strassenfest Committee, President of the Jasper High School Band Parents for many years, and member of the Knights of Columbus.
Pete lived in Jasper for 77 years before moving to Carmel to be closer to his children and grandchildren. He loved playing golf and achieved 7 hole-in-ones throughout his life. He also loved walking his golden doodle, Belle. Family was everything to him and he loved watching his kids’ and grandkids’ activities and sports. He loved humor and telling great stories. Pete’s goal every day was to make someone smile and make their day brighter. He did a wonderful job fulfilling that goal.
