Ronald L. Ford, 77, of Indianapolis passed away at his home on July 11, 2024. He was born in Johnson City, Tennessee on November 21, 1946 to his loving parents, John and Lora (Branum) Ford.
Ronald was a proud Vietnam Veteran of the Army, he served from 1964-1967 and was a Sargent in Infantry, 1st Calvary Division. During his time in active duty he received The Army of Occupation Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Overseas Service Bar, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal Award, manned the MK-45 and achieved Expert on M-14.
He was a proud tribal member of The Monacan Indian Nation, Bear Mountain in Amherst County, Virginia.
Ronald was a foreman for Layne Northern in Georgia and retired in 1991.
Ronald was exceptionally clever, knowledgeable and loving. He enjoyed gardening, teaching his daughters and grandchildren how to work on cars, watching wheel of fortune and jeopardy with his family and just all around being a big goofball.
Ronald was a loving Daddy, Papaw and friend. He will be missed dearly by all who were lucky enough to have known him.
Ronald is survived by his daughters Dina M. Ford, Diana L. Jacobs and Sara M. Lett. His grandchildren Tyler L. Ford, Stephen J. Wooldridge, Alexandria D. Jacobs, Justin A.M. Ford, Olivia and Ozzy Hudson. His siblings Delores (Sis) Springer, Bobbie A. Ford, Brenda (Kay) Eagen, Nancy Gentz and many nieces and nephews who love and miss their Uncle Ronnie.
He is preceded in death by his granddaughter Jasmine M. Bennett. His brothers Van E. Hobbs and Richard (LeRoy) Ford. His parents John and Lora Ford.
Ronald's cremation arrangements are in the care of Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park East.
There will be a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 3PM-10PM at the VFW-Fort Harrison Post 7119, 6525 N Lee Road, Indianapolis, IN 46236.
In honor of Ronald, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
