Roland L. Fegan, Sr. was born in Cannelburg, Indiana on August 12, 1936, to the late Roland Ambrose Fegan and Anna Laura Davis (Sinnott). Roland passed from this world on June 11, 2026, surrounded by his wife and children. Roland married Ruth Ann Williams on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 1961, at St. John’s Parish in Loogootee, Indiana. Roland has 4 siblings, Mike Davis, (deceased), Sue Woodfork of Loogootee, Elaine Webb of Evansville, and Kathy Davis of Newburgh.
Roland and Ruth were married for 64 years and had five children, Roland L. Fegan, Jr., (Connie), Rosemary Fegan, Rhonda S. Koehl, (Steve), Ryan J. Fegan, (Grace) and Renee A. Metzelaar (Don). They have 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren with 3 more on the way this year.
Roland worked for RCA in Indianapolis for 19 years then for Magic Markets, Wonder Bread, was a Knights of Columbus Insurance Agent and his last place of employment was Noble Industries in Noblesville, Indiana as a machinist.
Roland was very proud of his life-long commitment to the Knights of Columbus as a 4th degree member. He served as past Grand Knight at St. Joe’s Council (5290) from 2005-2006.
Roland was in timing and scoring on Race Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway beginning in 1960 through 1997 when the Motor Speedway finally developed an electronic scoring system. He continued to attend the Race every year until 2019.
Roland would profess his greatest accomplishments was that all 5 of his children graduated from college, Roland Jr, (Rose-Hulman, Civil Engineering), Rosemary, (St. Mary of the Woods, Education), Rhonda, (Purdue, Pharmacy), Ryan (Wabash and Valparaiso, Law) and Renee, (Purdue, Communications).
Roland was an excellent baseball coach having coached three championship Little League baseball teams 2 at Bel-East Little League in Indianapolis and one championship team in Vincennes.
A visitation will be held in Roland’s honor 1-5pm Sunday June 14th, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan Geist-7855 Cork Rd, Indianapolis IN 46236. An additional visitation will be held 9am with a funeral mass to follow at 10am Monday June 15th, 2026, both to take place at St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church 8155 Oaklandon Road, Indianapolis IN 46236. Roland’s Final Resting Place will be at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, 9001 Haverstick Rd. Indianapolis, 46240.
